FT Deutschland Report: "Prime Minister Papandreou has Considered Resignation"

Greek PM George Papandreou

Financial Times Deutschland reported that Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou has been considering resignation from his current position as Greece’s leader.
The German newspaper claimed that sources from the Greek PM’s environment gave them information over the past three weeks stating that Papandreou has already discussed the matter with two confidants.
The head of government was caught between the protests of his own party against the austerity program, on the one hand, and the requirements of EU and International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the other.
Papandreou, having faced intense criticism over the past few months, was forced to impose harsh austerity measures even as the Greek economy shrinks.
Papandreou stated that Greece will still miss the deficit-reduction goals instituted by the EU/ECB/IMF troika upon disbursement of the first Greek bailout.
A few hours ago, in a statement, Papandreou called the report “trash” and said that he has never considered resignation.
