Secretary of SAE Sends Letter to Finance Minister on Taxation of Greeks Abroad

In view of the voting on the new tax legislation bill in parliament tomorrow, Secretary of World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Dr. Olga Sarantopoulos has sent a letter to Finance Minister Mr. Evangelos Venizelos asking him to exempt Greeks residents abroad from the the taxation bill according to the 3943/2011 Law.
More specifically, Mrs. Sarantopoulos suggested several measures and alterations on the tax bill for Greeks abroad, in order to impose a facilitated taxation bill that will not only favor Greek residents abroad but Greece as well.
Mrs. Sarantopoulos additionally highlighted that Greek abroad are very consistent with their obligations towards the Greek state and have always demonstrated their love and support for their country through donations, beneficence and unselfish offers.
SAE Secretary stressed out that Greeks abroad are Greece’s big international asset and they have repeatedly voiced their wish to help their home country exit this terrible financial crisis in any possible way. Therefore, she asked the Greek finance minister to give particular attention to the matter of the taxation of Greeks abroad.
