Die Welt: Sunday EU Summit Could Still be Postponed

According to the German daily newspaper Die Welt, the German government has not ruled out the possibility of postponing the EU summit planned for this Sunday.
The summit had already been postponed from 17 October, while the EU, IMF and ECB had been awaiting for the Troika report on Greece’s progress with the implementation of all necessary austerity measures.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel did not manage to come to an agreement yesterday during their talks in Frankfurt, as they disagreed on whether the European Central Bank should financially support the EU’s new bailout fund.
European officials, however, have denied knowing of any such postponing plan. Rumors of a possible postponing of the crucial Summit have caused turmoil in the European markets and if the Summit is indeed postponed, Greece would be severely affected by it.
