French President Nicola Sarkozy spoke to reporters after holding an emergency government meeting to discuss Greek Prime Minister’s shocking decision to put the hard-fought European bailout plan for Greece to referendum. This plan is the “only way possible” to resolve Greece’s debt crisis according to Nicola Sarkozy. The French President who sources say he’s rather irritated with Mr.Papandreou’s irrational decision said that Greek prime minister’s announcement “surprised all of Europe.” “Giving a voice to the people is always legitimate, but solidarity between eurozone countries can only exist if everyone agrees on the necessary efforts” he said.
Sarkozy spoke with Angela Merkel on Tuesday and agreed to call in all leading European institutions to “examine the conditions” under which the rescue plan can now be carried out.
The French President who traditionally has championed efforts to help Greece, hosts G20 leaders this week at a summit expected to focus on Europe’s debt tragedy.
