New Novel About Young Smuggler's Story in Mediterranean

“Boca Lupo”, a novel by Panos Kazolis, follows the life of Mario, a young Greek sailor who seeks a career in cigarette smuggling around the Mediterranean to escape the poverty and hardship of life in the merchant navy.
Young and inexperienced Mario quickly learns the ins and outs of a tough business, proving his mettle through encounters with dangerous seas, attacking pirates and threatening customs officers. Eventually impressing his team’s capo, the frightening Signorini, Mario is chosen for the most prestigious, and dangerous, position in the ship – the speedboat coxswain. His position leads to fortune and high living, but Mario will be forced to confront his vanity and face the reality of his life-threatening business.
“A fascinating novel which takes your breath away from the very beginning,” says Nikos Anogis, publisher of the magazine Kouarios. “Carefully drawn characters, in a book with a very good narrative and thrilling plot.”
Inspired by the author’s true-life experiences as an adventurous sailor, the novel offers pursuits, explosions, secret dealings and escapes.
