Representatives of Korean Companies to Invest in Athens

For the occasion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Greece and Korea, the country’s delegation arrives on November 28-29 to attend a workshop conducted by the Athens Exchange and KOTRA (Korea Trade Promotion Corporation).
The Korean representatives will meet with Greek government officials and businessmen, while visits to Greek companies have been scheduled.
Representatives of some of the largest Korean banks, financial institutions and enterprises wish to assess the possibility of participation in privatization programs of the Greek government, investing in areas such as energy, waste management, real estate, and mining.
Sources note that given the administrative and financial autonomy, municipalities have a huge potential of utilizing infrastructure, but lack the necessary access to funding, according to ‘capital.gr’.
The two countries have  had bold economic links for decades, forged by the Greek shipping industry. Hundreds of Greek-owned ships were built by Korean yards, while new building has been ordered.
A source with knowledge of the sector told ‘Capital.gr’ that the Koreans have not forgotten that Greek shipping companies were the first to trust Korean shipyards.
