Prosecutors heading the judicial task force charged with fighting tax evasion, Grigoris Peponis and Spiros Mouzakitis have been called by the supervising economic prosecutor Nikolas Pantelis at Areios Pagos earlier today.
The two men submitted a memorandum to deputy prosecutor Fotis Makris, which included names and addresses of those who have allegedly tried to interfere with their work.
After completing their testimonies, the two men expressed their willingness to talk openly and officially about their reports against the Finance Ministry regulation at hand, according to which, the two prosecutors would be replaced by a deputy prosecutor of Areios Pagos.
According to information, in an attempt of defusing the situation, the Ministry has also considered withdrawing the relevant regulation, while the two prosecutors will remain in their positions until the Deputy Prosecutor’s decision is issued later on Friday evening.
