Exposed Crimes in Crete Shed Light on Hidden Illicit Sexual Activity

Every week holds another shocking revelation for the people of Crete. The island seems to be riding a roller coaster of depraved news stories and shocking sex-crime-related discoveries, as new cases of illicit sexual activity are brought to light seemingly constantly.
The latest cases concern a 22-year-old school teacher who approached her underage students through her Facebook account and offered them private tutoring, and a 24-year-old man accused of repeated rape and abuse by his 19-year-old sister.
In the first case, the mother of a 15-year-old student filed a sexual harassment suit against the young teacher, who had approached the student by offering to help him with his lessons. The student also confessed the two of them had sexual contact some months ago.
The 22-year-old teacher faces charges of statutory rape, while the police are conducting further research after discovering illicit photo material and conversations in the defendant’s PC.
In the second case, a young woman found the strength to tell her grandmother and husband of the tortures she had to put up with inside her own house by her own family.
According to the 19-year-old’s testimony, her older brother began raping her at the age of 14, while he and her parents abused her and kept her locked up in a room without food for days. The incestuous brother denied all accusations and the mother of the young woman attributed her daughter’s accusations to jealousy over the mother showing more love for her son.
The 19-year-old woman managed to reveal the shocking details of her life only after she had left her house. The brother, who seems to have sexually harassed their younger sister as well, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail on charges of incest.
