Earthquakes Rattle Southern Greece Non-Stop

New seismic shocks have been noticed on January 29 between the islands of Crete and Santorini. The epicenter of the new earthquakes has been the same as the previous ones monitored within the past days.
With a measuring of 4.5 on the Richter scale, the new tremors occurred at 11:55 a.m. and were also felt in Iraklion, Crete.
According to the Athens Geodynamics Institute and the Department of Geophysics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the earthquake’s epicenter was located undersea 243 kms south-southeast of Athens and 50 km2 southwest of Santorini.
Earlier Sunday morning, at 8:32 a.m. and 7:05 a.m. new tremors had been monitored in the undersea area between Crete and Santorini, measuring 4 and 3.3 on the Richter scale respectively.
According to experts, the two quakes are part of the aftershocks following the 5.3 and 5.2 magnitude earthquakes that rattled the area last Tuesday and Friday.
