The Athens Cervantes Institute, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy, is hosting a photo exhibition entitled Ouka Leele: Transgressive Utopia, which runs until April 24. The selection of 15 works, which feature in the exhibition, form part of the artist’s participation at the 11th Biennial in Cairo, 2008.
Ouka Leele showcases black-and-white and digital color photographs ranging from the mid-1970s to 2007.
Her work is characterized by a “unique dichotomy between spirituality and carnality, imbued with emotion and lyricism,” notes exhibition curator Manuel Romero.
