Mayor Of Ioannina Asks for Cooperation Between Ioannina Of Greece And Saranda Of Albania

During a conference organized by the Municipality of Saranda in Albania and the Municipality of Ioannina in Greece, the Mayor of Ioannina expressed his willingness for cooperation between Saranda and Ioannina.
The main subject of the conference was the preservation of architectural heritage for the promotion of tourism development.
The event’s attendees included among others the Culture Minister of Albania, architects and archaeologists, representatives of both municipalities, the Greek Consul General to Argyrokastro, as well as delegations from the municipalities of Corfu, Ioannina and Igoumenitsa.
The Mayor of Ioannina, Philippas Philios, emphasized that tourism cooperation can be developed between the two cities.
During the conference, the Mayor of Ioannina presented three proposals. The first of them concerns tourism exchanges between both cities. The second is about the organization of a business forum during which the sectors of cooperation between the two cities will be defined. The third proposal regards the know-how offer on the behalf of the Municipality of Ioannina concerning water and waste administration.
All the above mentioned proposals constitute the main conditions that are necessary for cooperation. The proposals have been approved and they are intended to be implemented shortly.
