Bambiniotis Suggests the Minister of Education Be Made Permanent and Supported by Successive Governments

The Minister of Education, George Bambiniotis, expressed the opinion that the Minister of Education should be permanent and supported by every elected government, in his interview with the Greek radio station, Real FM.
“Particularly in the Ministry of Education, there should be one person who is familiar with every issue and supported by every elected government” he pointed out. “I don’t have any political ambitions, nor do I wish to be that kind of person, indicated by a political party.” he explained.
Referring to his duties, he called himself a “conscript” when it comes to education-related issues, emphasizing that he doesn’t need to learn new things, because he already knew “what education means for every level” before his being inaugurated Minister. “I have deep knowledge of  every issue” he added.
Some of his highest priorities, according to his statements, are the formation of a new type of High School, changes in the process of admission in Universities, and the problem-free conduct of Pan-Hellenic exams. He also claimed that he puts special emphasis on the printing of school books, saying that “the printing process starts on the 4th of May, so that schools of every level have the books by July or August”.
Finally, G. Bambiniotis remarked on the postponement of the elections in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, saying that it is a “blow” to our educational system, and claimed that different solutions should be found instead of police intervention in Universities. “The law, that has many bright sides, must be implemented”, he said.
