Golden Roots: A Two Day Painting Exhibition by Andreas C Chrysafis

Author, painter and writer Andreas C Chrysafis is presenting his latest art exhibition of original oil paintings at the Palea Elektriki in Paphos, Cyrpus (8, Vladimerou Herakleous).
The Honourable Mayor of Paphos, Savvas Vergas, will officially open the exhibition on April 28 at 7pm. The exhibition will stay open until Sunday the 29th from 11am to 9pm.
Chrysafis was born in the village of Ayios Amvrosios, Kerynia, Cyprus. He experienced hardship during his early years and began to work after school at the age eleven. During the EOKA uprising against British colonial rule, he was arrested by the British Army and his parents decided to send him to the UK.
He attended Holland Park Comprehensive in London and took up classical music, art and architectural design. As an A-student in art, he excelled in his studies and at 15 years of age – after an intense musical exam at the Royal Academy of Music – he was accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy, a great feat for a young boy who could hardly speak English. He was offered a small financial grant by Her Majesty the Queen to continue his musical studies, but financial circumstances dictated differently and soon he had to give up his musical aspirations to enter the work force.
At the age of 21 he got married to his wife Eva, and they immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. He soon began to put his training into practice and started architectural designing and development of commercial projects for most of his life.

The death of his son, Alexis, in 2009 has transformed Chrysafis’ life forever. He has another daughter, Tina-Marie, and a grandson. Today, he lives between London and Cyprus and devotes his entire time to producing works of art, articles and novels.
He is the published author ofAndartes,” “Porphyra in Purple” and “Who Shall Govern Cyprus-Brussels or Nicosia?”. His books are available worldwide and he’s a prolific writer of novels as well as press articles under the “Vanishing Cyprus” Series. His upcoming novel is entitled “Aphrodite’s Scared Virgins.”
He is a strong advocate and an outspoken campaigner against corruption and a strong supporter for Human Rights, Equality and respect for the Rule of Law.
