Prime Minister Papademos and President Papoulias Meet AHEPA Delegation

President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias received a delegation of the Hellenic American Educational and Progressive Association (AHEPA) noon yesterday at the Presidential Palace.
“Presenting the same courage that we’ve shown in difficult situations, we are going to overcome that crisis too; it’s up to us to overcome it. However we must be united, all together as a family, that’s the most important. Hellenism has won every battle when united. When Hellenism was ‘rotten’ as a result of division and conflicts it failed completely.” That was the President’s message when he received the AHEPA representatives under John Grossomanides.
President Papoulias also referred to his faith in “the powerful soul that we all have within us, in what the Greeks have” and expressed his optimism for the country’s escape of the financial crisis.
The President thanked the Hellenic-Americans for their offer to Greece and added: “I’m not afraid, we will overcome the crisis. We just have to remember where our grandparents started from.” He praised AHEPA’s work and reminded that there are numerous eminent Greeks enjoying successful careers abroad.
Prime Minister Lucas Papademos also met with the visiting AHEPA delegation, headed by its president, John Grossomanides, with talks involving the impact of the economic crisis on the financially weak and ways to support those in need.
“We discussed with the Prime Minister ways to help the poor and the homeless and offer humanitarian assistance to help them deal with the crisis,” the president of AHEPA stated afterwards.
They also discussed ways to boost tourist arrivals from the United States and investment opportunities in Greece by encouraging US companies.
AHEPA delegation also met with PASOK’s President Evangelos Venizelos and LAOS MP Alekos Chrysanthakopoulos.
