German Philhellenes Visit Thessalia

45 German Philhellenes have comeĀ to Greece to show their love for Greek music.
Their club, called “Ichoussa Gefyra” (meaningĀ  in Greek, “the resonating bridge”) is fond of traditional Greek music and Balkan, too. Some of its members are distinguished Germans and Greeks, living in Germany.
On April 4, they came to Karditsa, in order to visit some villages of the prefecture. During their stay, they sang some traditional Greek songs, together with several local cultural associations. The instigator of this trip may have probably been Thessalian Costas Papanastasiou, who accompanied and guided the German group around his hometown.
But Trikala is not their only stop during their journey in Greece. On April 5 and 9, the Germans have planned to visit Trikala as well. Their program is full of events, as they will pay a visit to many local sights. The Music School of Trikala will also perform some songs to thank the Philhellenes for coming.
Traditional Greek products will beĀ offered by the Women’s Association “Prinous” free of charge.
This cultural visit and the love for Balkan music do not only resonate some support, but also show to Europeans that Greek and German people do not go separate ways!
