British Cyclists Will Travel from Ancient Olympia in Greece to London

Some renowned British athletes have decided to organize a charity cycling event, beginning their journey to London from Greece.
Lawrence Dallagio, rugby player, and Flintoff Freddie, cricket player, organize a philanthropic cycling tour every year in order to raise money for British children with cancer.
On Monday, April 23, almost 300 cyclists will gather in ancient Olympia, Greece, to start the long journey from Greece to Britain. Over the weekend, the Greek international airport was full of of British bikers taking part in the event.
Nassos Stevenson, a Greek-British Philhellene, who contributed to organizing the event, commented that “this trip has a charity objective and is, obviously, a good promotion for Greece, especially now that the financial crisis has influenced the Greeks’ lives in a negative way.”
The total distance that the cyclists have to cover amounts to 3,000 km. The starting line will be in ancient Olympia and the British group will pass through neighboring Italy as well.
It is a rather important initiative for Greece. Lately, more and more individuals and institutions have shown their support to the country in several different ways. The cycling event also hopes to remind Europeans that Greece remains a good vacation destination for the summer!
