Areti Tsochatzopoulos Imprisoned on Money Laundering Charges

Just like her father, former Greek minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, Areti headed to Korydallos prison on Thursday, April 26.
She was held in custody after her testimony before the examining magistrate. She faces money laundering charges, and the scandal appears to have many people involved.
According to the examining magistrate, Areti bought a house located in the Kolonaki region, Athens. The offshore company of Akis Tsochatzopoulos appears to be the owner of this house and as a result, Greek authorities believe that it is connected to the illegal money transactions.
Michael Dimitrakopoulos, Areti’s lawyer, commented that “the only mistake Areti made, is that she is the daughter of Akis Tsochatzopoulos.”
“Areti is an architect and that’s how she earned the money she needed to buy the house,” added Dimitrakopoulos. “She is divorced and has three kids to bring up,” was the argument.
Early in the morning, while heading to the examining magistrate’s office, Areti told the media that she loves her father and she supports him while in prison, denying that she is involved with the case.
On Friday, April 27, it is his wife Vicky Stamatis’ turn to defend herself before the public prosecutor.
