Team Diomidis Argous Wins European Handball Cup

Greek handball team Diomidis Argous won the European Challenge Cup in Switzerland on May 27.
Diomidis players managed to become European Champions, despite losing 22-20 in the last match. A week earlier, on May 20, they had beaten their Swiss opponents Wacher Thun 26-23 in Loutraki, Greece. According to the European rules over handball, the winner becomes the team which manages to win both in and out finals. In this occasion, the Greek team lost the second match, but had one more goal in total.
The results excited the 100 or so Greek visitors who travelled to Switzerland to support their favorite team. The “wolves,” as their fans call them, managed, under the supervision of their coach Dimitris Dimitroulias, to prove that Greece equals success in sports despite low funding of the government.
