Five Greek Universities Among World's Best

According to International QS World University Rankings, five Greek universities are included among the most trusted universities of the world.
QS announced the 2012 world’s 200 best universities as voted by their employees. The list comprises of academic institutions from 27 countries with 29 categories per specialty. The total list of academic candidates for this QS list was approximately 600 universities.
The University of Cambridge was voted first while Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) follow in the second and third place respectively.
As for the Greek universities, the National Metsovio Polytechnic School  is on the list with its statistics, engineering, electronics and chemistry departments while the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Patras, the Economic University of Athens and the National Kapodistrian University of Athens got voted for at least one specialty.
This is a considerable accomplishment when one takes into account the fact that Greece faces very serious financial problems, that Greek universities suffer from lack of  financial support by the state and are operating on donations by individuals and the fact that professors are well-paid, their salaries are equivalent to an average laborer, and sometimes with considerable delays in payment.  These are reasons to conclude that Greek academia have accomplished a Herculean task!
