Third Soup Kitchen Inaugurated in Athens by Archbishop Ieronymos

The third social “Grocery Store” (in the US referred to as “soup kitchen”) of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens philanthropic organization “Mission” (Apostoli) was inaugurated two days ago in Iroon Square by Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos.
Following the creation of the Social Grocery Store of Moschato-Tavros and Kallithea, where more than 400 families find care and support, another 200 families in Dafni will be provided with food and sanitary articles. Help will be given to large families and single-parent families in need, while single people of all ages will also be welcomed in the loving hands of the church.
Archbishop Ieronymos noted during the inauguration ceremony that all institutions should cooperate and support this effort. The only way to overcome the crisis is to be united, he underlined. Ieronymos explained that every Social Grocery Store has been created with the help of everyday people who wish to help their fellow citizens.
A special committee will be examining the applications from families and individuals asking for support.
Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos will be standing by the side of the Archdiocese of Athens in this effort.
