According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, temperatures in Greece will skyrocket within this week and vulnerable groups across the country are asked to be extra careful to avoid health problems, such as heat exhaustion and fainting.
The General Secretariat of Civil Protection has underscored that young children, the elderly, and individuals with serious health problems should remain in cool and shadowy places, consume a lot of water to avoid dehydration, wear bright and light clothing and never leave their home without sun glasses and hat.
This July heat wave is expected to hit harder in Western Greece, and especially the Western Peloponnese and Western mainland. Temperatures are expected to range in these areas from 38 to 40 C degrees, while the Ionian islands will have an average temperature of 36 to 37 C degrees.
