Greek Businessmen Rank First in World Stress Report

Greeks have become world champions once more. Unfortunately, not in basketball courts or at the Olympic Games but in matters of stress.
According to the International Business Report (IBR) conducted by Grant Thornton, businessmen around the world led in 2011 a much less stressful life compared to that in 2005. On the contrary, Greek professionals are the world’s most stressed.
Greece, along with Botswana and Thailand, are the only countries reporting increased stress rates during 2011. Greek businessmen stated that they were more bothered in 2011 by 67% while in 2010, 61% of them claimed to be stressed.
According to the survey, only 19% of Greek businessmen go on a vacation to cope with their stress, while rates for the other countries are 42%. Greeks appear to cope with stress through exercise/training (44%) and entertainment indoors (37%) or outdoors (43%).
The IBR report stresses that the biggest problem that businesses deal with, which caused undue stress to their employees, is the pressure to meet weekly or monthly targets.
