Greece Resumes Debt Talks With Inspectors

Greece’s international creditors have called on Athens to provide more details on its 11.5 billion euro austerity plan needed to keep open funding lines to the country, a senior Greek government official said Thursday.
In the first meeting between a visiting delegation of international creditors and senior government officials, including Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras, on finalizing the spending cuts for 2013 and 2014, talks focused on this year’s budget and the savings plan expected to be announced by the end of August.
“What is needed is a specialization of some measures-from those that we have put forth,” said the senior Greek government official who took part in the meeting.
The two parties will meet again Sunday morning before the representatives from Greece’s international lenders–the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the European Central Bank–also known as the troika, leave Athens for a summer break, the official said.
The troika, which had originally planned to finish its Athens visit at the end of July, has said it will now do so once all the measures are finalized.
