World's Longest Syrtaki Dance in Volos

Two thousand twelve people will participate, the famous Zorba music will be heard in Volos and the World Guinness record officials will attend the event to make sure that these Greeks will break the syrtaki record this time.
On August 31, 2012 the people of Thessalia will dance syrtaki for five minutes in front of several other visitors in a bid to be included in the new Guinness record book.
A female police officer, Mrs Alexia Halvatzakou, came up with this idea some time ago because she loves her city, Volos, and wants to promote it abroad, as she explains. Being in the Guinness book is one of best ways to promote a city abroad since national and international media will rush to cover the event.
Dance teachers and willing dancers have already begun rehearsals to do their best!
