Thessaloniki Opens House

The first Open House event in Greece, with Thessaloniki being the host city, is taking place on 24th and 25th of November to mark the 100th anniversary of the city’s liberation and incorporation into the Greek state.
The city will turn into a large museum with 60 public and private buildings opening their doors to demonstrate the architectural treasures and dynamics of the city.
The event is organized by the NGO Open House Greece, founded in 2012. The organization calls on everyone to visit the buildings, explore and understand the urban design and public space of the host-city. The event aims at presenting talented Greek and foreign architects of the 21st century and shedding light on the different historical periods and their special architectural characteristics.
The Open House project was launched for the first time in London in 1992 and has since expanded to various cities around the world, including New York, Tel Aviv, Rome, Dublin, Helsinki, Melbourne, Barcelona and Lisbon.
Open House Thessaloniki 2012 is organized under the auspices of TEE/TKM and in cooperation with the Department of Architecture and Urban Design of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Region of Central Macedonia, the AUTH rectorate, the Thessaloniki Hotel Associations and the Thessaloniki Tourism and Marketing Organization.
