Greek Pharmacists Break Off EOPYY Talks

Theodoros Ambazoglou, head of the Greek pharmacist’s union, said he was unable to reach an agreement with the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY) which owes pharmacists scores of millions of euros in unpaid subsidies.
Greek pharmacists struck for two days this week to protest being unpaid along with a lack of some drugs because the government hasn’t paid them nor suppliers. The two sides scheduled another meeting for Dec. 1 to try to find a solution.
The pharmacists, who have conducted a number of strikes as the government has paid them only intermittently, said they are also protesting a legislative act requiring them to pay a rebate to insurance funds  they said will cost pharmacists between 5,000-50,000 euros ($6,400-$64,000) each.
They demand the ending of the rebate act,  for overdue payments to be paid in full and a more effective payment schedule in order both to serve the patients and get what they are owed and for a regular schedule to prevent further strikes.
