Greek Food A Billion Euro Bonus

horecaGreek gastronomy could bring in more than 500,000 more tourists who want to taste the country’s best and boost Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by more than one billion euros ($1.33 billion) and create 50,000 jobs, officials have estimated.
That came out of the eighth HORECA exhibition, the leading trade show for the hospitality and food service industry. As a part of HORECA, the event organized by the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises entitled: Gastro-Tourism: Food for Development was held in order to highlight the importance of the campaign to find financial resources for the project Gastronomy in the Marketing of Greek tourism.
The main issues presented were: the link between quality, cost and lack of quantity in the raw materials which led to an imbalance in favor of the imported products during the previous years.
