Greek Singers Take Acts to Skopje

mpuzoukiaMusic has no borders nor language. With Greece struggling with a huge economic crisis, Greek nightclub singers are also trying to cope with those difficult times by giving performances wherever they can find them, and that includes Skopje in neighboring FYROM.
According to Parapolitika newspaper, within the past few months Peggy Zina, Angela Dimitriou, Giorgos Margaritis, Thanos Petrelis and Kaiti Garbi have performed in casinos in Skopje owned by Turkish businessmen.
Michalis Hatzigiannis was also to perform there on St. Valentine ’s Day but postponed just before the event. The newspaper said the casinos are profiting off the Greek singers attraction and that they have lured many Greeks to cross the border to catch their act.
Many Greek musicians and singers are poorly paid, or not paid at all, and it’s not uncommon for them to perform and then be told by the management there wasn’t enough money taken in to pay them, although the performers said they believe there is and that their money is being stolen.
