Greek Film Academy Nominees Named

awardsThe Greek Film Academy has set the nominees for this year’s awards which will be given on April 2 at the House of Arts and Letters. This year 63 films were nominated: 17 features, 10 documentaries and 36 short films.
Among those movies battling for the top honors in features are 11 Meetings with My Father by Nikos Korniliou; What If, by Christopher Papakaliati; The Boy Eating The Bird’s Food by Ektoras Lygizos; The Daughter, by Thanos Anastopoulos, and J.A.C.E, by  Menelaus Karamaghiolis.
The new element in the awards this year is the introduction of the prize Lucia Rikaki in honor of the late filmmaker. The prize will be awarded to the documentary filmmakers and will be accompanied by a cash prize of 3,000 euros, which is donated by Rikaki’s family.
The famous filmmaker’s mother thanked the Film Academy for accepting the proposal for this award, at an event held at the House of Arts and Letters House, where she expressed the need to revive her daughter’s memory.
