According to the results of research presented at the conference Greek Product Development and Extroversion Power of Greek Economy, 80 percent of Greeks said they try to buy their own country’s products over foreign goods to help support Greek businesses and workers.
“The crisis encouraged purchasers to turn to the Greek products and boost the Greek industrial and agricultural production,” stated a report from the Athens University of Economics and Business, which was presented during the conference of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) which focused on Greek products.
About 50 percent of Greeks believe Greek commodities are of high quality and 80 percent said they are looking for both quality and price before choosing Greek foodstuffs and other goods.
It was found that even large multinational corporations are looking for Greek products because of the high cost of raw materials otherwise and the high quality of what Greek companies produce, such as as agricultural products, beer, wine, honey, saffron, and yogurt.
Greek products are being more aggressively promoted abroad, especially where there is a large Diaspora population as Greeks living in other countries said they want to buy goods from their homeland.
