Greek Products Found With Horse Meat

ImageGen.ashxA number of meat products, such as frozen chicken nuggets, frozen schnitzels, Frankfurt-type sausages, pre-cooked frozen meat burgers and others have been recalled by the Greek authorities as they tested positive for horse meat.
EFET, the Hellenic Food Authority, published a list of the recalled products and the names of the companies that produce them. According to EFET, the meat products found with horse meat should be withdrawn from all markets around Greece the sooner possible.
In some of the meat products listed by EFET, the horse meat content was above the half of the total meat content. The meat product samples that contain horse meat in large percentages will also be tested for phenylbutazone, a veterinary drug used in horses which is banned from entering the human food chain.
