Members of the community of Potamia on the northern Aegean island of Thasos have prevented members of far-right Golden Dawn distributing free food products to villagers.
To Vima newspaper said residents of Potamia did not let Golden Dawn members unload their truck and forced them to leave, shouting they were not welcome.
The Athens-Macedonia News Agency reported on Monday that the carrying anti-fascism banners, a large group of residents told the Golden Dawn members they were not welcome and prevented a truck carrying free food from being unloaded.
Golden Dawn, an anti-immigration party, has staged several “charity” food distributions for poor Greeks.
To Vima says the anti-Golden Dawn protest in Potamia was organised by the cultural centre, local football team and some other residents. Thassos is in the northern Aegean Sea, near the coast of Thrace.
Golden Dawn have slammed what they claim are the false communications parroted by the Greek media from a report by the Athens News Agency.
According to Golden Dawn the food distribution was entirely successful and OVER 100 FAMILIES received a share of the 50 kilos of fish and 150 kilos of potatoes and legumes distributed. (See link)

Agreed but regarding some special cased like the case of the small number of REAL (and not fake) refugees, they should be sent to safe countries who don’t face an economic crisis and who are willing to accept them.

The comments here make me think the Greek people have lost their sanity. Being against racism is not anti-Greek or anti-white. We all agree Greece is an economic disaster, and that illegal immigrants exacerbate the problem. But hating and harming these poor people, who are only trying to escape places that are even more destitute than Greece is disgusting. Greeks have always been friends of humanity. Racism is immoral and has nothing to do with being patriotic. I love the Greek National Anthem more than any Golden Dawn supporter. Another thing: do these people really want Greece to be isolated further? We have enough problems, even with some sympathizers in Europe. Greece NEEDS friends, and especially during this crisis. Israel has really given Cyprus hope by supporting its gas exploration rights. With Golden Dawn in power, Greece would be alone and vulnerable. Greece may need to negotiate an exit from the Euro. But let’s not be stupid.
