New Folk Art Museum in Ioannina

images-16Fotis Rapakousis from Ioannina, the capital city of Epirus, north-western Greece, decided to donate his precious collection of relics and set up a Folk Art Museum on the island of Lake Ioannina.
In this museum priceless relics, artifacts and objects of inestimable historical value bring back to life the period before the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the rule of Ali Pasha in the region.
After years of research, Rapakousis managed to gather all these important artifacts of Greek cultural heritage, and he is very proud to present his collection and share it with the public.
The visitor to the museum comes into contact with a troubled period of war, that bears the seal of Ali Pasha’s prosperity and wealth.
Apart from firearms and jewelry in the Folk Art Museum, portraits and paintings of war scenes are exhibited, as well as 19th century ceramic artifacts from Apulia, Kütahya and Çanakkale.
