The number of building permits decreased by 35.6 percent and it is rather possible that the fall will continue in the coming months. Things will get worse in the next semester if the guiding values rise in a number of regions in the country.
Regarding the construction activity in Greece, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) published the following information: in January 1,406 building permits were issued. These permits correspond to 255.1 thousand m2 and to 1,021.9 thousand m3.  The decrease percentage in permits was 35.6 percent which makes 31.3 less construction in surface and 28.1 less construction in volume, compared to January of 2012.
