Blogger's Outing Pits ND Vs. SYRIZA

PitsirikosThe revelation of the name of an anonymous blogger by an advisor to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the New Democracy Conservative leader, led the major opposition party Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) to charge a breach of privacy.
SYRIZA said that Giorgos Mouroutis took the name of the blogger, Pitsirikos, from a list on the Parliament’s security officer after he visited the Leftists. Mouroutis attacked the blogger on Twitter for what he said were provocative statements made about the Boston Marathon bombing.
When asked by other Tweeps where he got the information, Mouroutis said that Pitsirikos had used his real identity during a recent visit at Parliament for an interview with SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras. SYRIZA’s parliamentary spokesman Dimitris Papadimoulis said Mouroutis had violated the body’s rules as well as the blogger’s privacy, an offense in Greece.
Tsipras met with the Parliament’s security chief who assured him that the visitor’s list is confidential. New Democracy’s parliamentary spokesman Sofia Voultepsi said there was no wrongdoing. “Mouroutis never said he is monitoring Tsipras’s visitors, nor would it be possible to do so,” she said.
She said the blogger had posted the Tsipras interview on his site together with a photograph from the event. “The blogger’s identity is known to everyone, it’s not secret. He used to present a show on TV, he has turned up in court. Pitsirikos has stopped being anonymous,” Voultepsi said.
