Greek Baking Up Guinness Record

tsourekilesvosTsoureki is a sweet, fluffy Greek bread associated with Easter traditions, when it is made and consumed in great quantities. Traditionally it is home-baked on Holy Thursday.
This Easter, on the Greek island of Lesvos, confectioner Vassilis Pantazis will prepare a tsoureki 70 meters long, and if he succeeds, he will be in the Guinness Book of Records for the second time, after 2005 for his tsoureki of 50,4 meters.
The project will be carried out on the morning of April 21, at 11 o’clock. For the preparation of the giant tsoureki, 150 kilos of dough will be needed and the distance to be covered is from Pittakos street to Pigadaki.
The Municipality of Mytilene, the scouts and the fellow citizens will be there to help him and contribute to this project. The largest part of the tsoureki will be given to the Social Grocery.
