Greece Never Gave Up Compensation Claims

DAA9FC1AC49B35AFDD9E8A8DA42625DCA German document published today by the newspaper VIMA, which was sent by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athensto the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs back inĀ  March 1967, is the irrefutable proof that Greece has never renounced its claims against Germany over the issues of the forced occupation loan, as well as the military, private and public compensation.

The government of Bonn in its personal response to its embassy in Athens clearly indicates that a Greek resignation has never been recorded.

The German document, according to the article, abolishes in the most official way possible, all myths about a supposedly Greek resignation, which had been artfully cultivated during the past and are continuing to do so at the present without ever bringing to light evidence to support them. On the contrary, with this document it actually recognizes that there has never been such a disclaimer on the Greek side.
In fact, this very document refutes the Germans’ argument about having closed the issue with the 1960 Convention, given that it had been prepared and sent almost seven years later.
The conclusion is, that the German side maintains that no other issue can be regulated, let alone closed, with this Convention and of course this is something that today Germany is clearly aware of.
