Kefaloyianni Says Taxes Tourism Key



6e0a797d72de471ef256fc5269051153Greek tourism Minister Olga Kefaloyianni,in an interview with the news agency ANA-MPA said that government hopes to persuade international lenders to allow a reduction in taxes to help lure more tourists as the season has begun.
“Tourism is a national issue and therefore it is our obligation to ensure that the quality of our services along with what we are able to offer, are the best possible,” she said.
She underlined that, “This year, Greece must show what a hospitable and great country it is. This applies to all those who will come into contact with our guests, both those who are part of the tourism industry as well as every single Greek who may welcome a guest.”
When asked if she thinks that Greece is being competitive, Kefaloyanni stressed that “Greece is perfectly competitive and that we can see. Too much effort has been put into this. Of course, the Greek government also needs to take some steps further, such as the reduction of tax rates.”
