Greek researchers mapping pornography trends over the years in the country have found, to little surprise, men are the biggest audience, but that female performers in sex films are getting younger and thinner, but big breasts are still preferred
The results were presented on April 16 by the Research Institute of Applied Communication and the Communication and Mass-Media Department of the University of Athens.
As it was stressed out during the presentation of the program’s findings, by the Assistant Professor at the Communication and mass-Media Department, Liza Tsaliki, this is only the third relevant research initiative in the world.
The Greek Porn Project, as it is called, studied 25 Greek porn movies. Twelve were filmed within the period 1970-1990 and the rest from 2000 until today. As it was expected, the development of technology led to more external shots and to the use of natural sound, while over the years, the attention turned away from the man and was focused on the woman.
Today, the women starring are younger, while the men remain more mature. Women are presented thinner and with bigger breast. As it is observed by the researchers, today the sex scenes are more “crowded” and the use of sex toys has increased. However, the kiss and the preferred sex positions have remained the same over the years.
As regards the audience, it consists mainly of men (78%), who do not fall into the category of “uninstructed mass”, as may be considered, but they are educated. Most of them watch sex movies to pleasure themselves or when they are on sexually aroused. However, there is a smaller percentage of people stating that they watch sex movies “when bored”.
Nevertheless, men and women have the same criteria for the selection of the movie (despite the fact that there are no films produced for female audience). They mostly prefer heterosexual or homosexual sex between women or group sex. “Now with the Internet, thing are more tough. You are more exposed,” said the single Greek producer of pornographic films today, Dimitris Seirinakis.
