Traffic Warden Run Over By Car

ÓÕÍÅÄÑÉÁÓÇ ÕÐÏÕÑÃÉÊÏÕ ÓÕÌÂÏÕËÉÏÕA 42-year-old traffic warden, mother-of-two, was run over by a vehicle and killed in Kifissia, Athens. The tragic incident happened at eight past ten in the morning of April 23 at the junction of Kifisias Avenue with Saint Demetriou Street.
The car was driven by a 34-year-old woman, who was arrested and detained at the police department in Kifissia, which is conducting a preliminary investigation of the accident.
According to the Greek Police, the traffic warden had been serving in the Traffic Police of Kifissia for the last 20 years and her colleagues said she was one of the most experienced in the service.
“She knew every intersection and street that traffic police serving in her department were responsible for,” they said. “She was quite experienced and knew every street. She knew how to protect herself,” her colleagues said about the unfortunate traffic warden.
At the time of the accident the traffic warden was controlling the traffic and was protected by the passing cars. However, the 34-year-old driver lost control of her car, and hit the traffic warden. The driver was in a state of shock and until hours later was not able to testify about the conditions under which the fatal accident happened.
