President of the FHW, Efraimoglou Passed Away

01largeThe founder and President of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, Lazaros Efraimoglou, passed away at the age of 81 due to cardiac arrest in the HYGEIA Hospital, where he was transferred earlier as he was feeling sick.
Efraimoglou was born in Athens and studied economics at the University of Leeds in England. He came from a family of merchants from Asia Minor and served 25 years as an elected representative of the productive classes in the Commercial and Industrial Chamber, as a Board member, and as President (1981-1988).
In 1979 he became a member of the political party New Democracy. In 1985, he was elected vice president of the Union of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry and kept this position until 1988. In November 1989, he was elected MP with New Democracy for the first time and created the Foundation of the Hellenic World. He was re-elected MP in April 1990. In January 1999, he was awarded the medal, Commander of the Phoenix by the President of the Republic
His funeral will be held on April 26, at 17:00p.m., at the First Cemetery of Athens.
