On April 30, a tragedy occurred in the village of Venerato in Heraklion, Crete, when a tractor overturned and crushed to death a 42-year-old farmer. The farmer died in his effort to save his son, who is now hospitalized in Venizeleio General Hospital of Heraklion with severe head injuries, but out of danger.
According to the local media, the tractor overturned and fell into the gap of a building site capturing the 12-year-old boy between the seat of the tractor and the cement. The father, who was a few meters away, ran to save his son but the vehicle crushed him.
From that moment on, a big rescue operation started with the participation of EKAV (National Service for Immediate Assistance) and the fire department. However, it was too late for the unfortunate father-of-four.
