Crete Has Special Lure To Canadians

47158The governor for the Crete Region, Stavros Arnaoutakis, met on May 9 with 48 travel agents from Canada who are interested in the island as a site for tourist groups.
Nicole Bursey, Commercial Director at Transat Tours Canada, was head of the travel agents. Transat, one of the biggest tourist agencies worldwide, noted that her agency has found Crete is a favorite among Canadians.
The meeting was held at the Port of Heraklion and followed Arnaoutakis’ recent visit to Canada and the meetings he held there with governmental and financial representatives for the promotion of tourism and the Cretan products.
The travel agents thanked Arnaoutakis for his warm welcome and they visited Knossos and other touristic sites of the region. They talked with enthusiasm about the beauties of the island and its history and interest in Crete as a tourist destination.
The representative of Transat met a number of tourism businessmen of the island about the promotion of Crete as spot for multi-day packages of holidays from Canada. Bursey told Arnaoutakis that another 58  Canadian travel agents will visit Crete on May 16.
