In the early morning hours of May 26, a young man from Afghanistan pushed a 20-year old university student from Arta off an eight meter precipice after grabbing her bag. On May 27 the perpetrator was to be led to the prosecutor of Corfu.
The incident happened shortly after 3.30 in the morning when the 20-year-old Ionian University student was in the region Mouragia in the town of Corfu. The young Afghan, who claimed that he is 17 years old and has applied for political asylum, spotted the unfortunate girl and tried to grab her bag.
When she resisted and began calling for help, the young man pushed the girl off the cliff and fled to an unknown direction. The 20-year-old is being hospitalized with severe physical injuries and abrasions, but luckily her life is not in danger.
Despite her serious injuries,she managed to describe the perpetrator to the police officers who visited her, and a few hours later the man was arrested.
