skiliakalathi_415389650A 44-year-old Greek “Cruella De Vil” with eight different identities has been accused of the mysterious disappearance of 173 dogs, which she adopted from animal welfare organizations across the country and ever since, their tracks have been lost.
The unprecedented case which has angered thousands of animal lovers throughout Greece, was brought to court.
The 44-year-old woman’s doings came to light when she adopted a puppy from Salamina. However, since then the dog’s traces have disappeared.
The Coordination Committee of Animal Welfare Societies of the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Animal Welfare and Environmental Organizations was immediately informed, initiating a search for the unknown woman.
The woman’s phone number appeared in dozens of adoption cases of small dogs, but under different names and fake identities. So far, 173 dogs have gone missing and their number is likely to increase even more.
The 44-year-old was taken on June 3 to the Three-Member Misdemeanors Court of Athens along with her 71-year-old friend and accomplice, yet their trial was postponed till June 12.
It is however the first time that so many puppies have been lost in such a way, without anyone knowing what became of them.
