Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy at Cine-Thisio

thision_cinema2Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy will be at the Cine Thisio on June 11 for the premiere of, Before Midnight. The film, directed by Richard Linklater, will open the 3rd Athens Open Air Film Festival.
Don’t forget that Cine Thisio on St Apostolou Pavlou 7, in Thission, Athens, recently topped the CNN’s list of the world’s most enjoyable movie theaters. CNN wrote, “Athens is home to multiple outdoor movie theaters that crop up during the summer but none provide as majestic a view as Cine Thisio. From your seat at Cine Thisio you not only get to view the latest blockbuster, but also the Acropolis, and the Parthenon that sits on top. The best view is at night. Cine Thisio is the oldest outdoor movie theater in Athens, built in 1935, and is usually open from April to October.”
The Athens Open Air Film Festival is coming back for the third year with outdoor and free cinematic and cultural events. From June until September, numerous events will take place at outdoor movie theaters, spots around the Acropolis (at Dionysius the Areopagite pedestrian street), at museums and courtyards, at the Park of Plato’s Academy etc. The Festival’s program includes selections from international cinematography, both classic and contemporary, concerts, interactive events, street artists and artistic interventions by young creators. This year’s opening event is supported by the Greek National Tourism Organization in cooperation with the Greek Film Center.
