A flashback to the most important points of famed actress Melina Mercouri’s life, including songs, theater and film roles, and important personalities of the Greek and international artistic life of the 20th Century will come alive on stage, in a dialogue with the history of Greece in the great tribute to the life and leading Greek woman entitled Melina: Wherever I travel, ( I see) Greece …”.
The musical part of the tribute is organized by the leading composer and collaborator of Mercouri, Stavros Xarhakos. The leading roles are played by Maria Naupliotou and Yiannis Stankoglou. Other actors of the performance are Alberto Fais, Chloe Mantzari, Nefeli Maistrali and 12 dancers.
The main performer of Mercouri’s songs is acclaimed Greek singer Elli Paspala. The scenery and costumes are by Yiannis Metzikof and the lighting by Lefteris Pavlopoulos. The script of the show is written by the poet Stratis Paschalis and directed by Sofia Spyratou.
The show will open on August 24 in Prespa and then it will be presented at Herodium on Sept. 7.
