The Neglected Epirus River Suffers

0A7042A93A38E85502EF680D03FD8309The natural wealth of Epirus is not limited only to its mountains, forests and beaches. There are rivers as well that complement the breathtaking wild beauty of the continental landscape with a great number of rich ecosystems, unique to our country.
The area is inextricably tied to its rivers that have always been a reference point for it, while providing the region with the biggest water quantity than in any other region in Greece.
In addition, many were those who lived in Epirus at the past and used the rivers’ water in order to cover their needs. However, unfortunately, there are yet some problems to be solved, since human activity has left nothing untouched.
Aoos, Kalamas, Louros, Arahthos, even Voidomatis, as demonstrated in a Proinoslogos newspaper reader’s letter, have been suffering occasionally or permanently from the reckless exploitation of their waters, pollution and lack of respect that characterizes the societies living near them.
