All Nissos Mykonos Passengers Safe in Samos

D8CA9E4ED0BB474EE5DDCA16A18C16F1Τhe adventure the 174 passengers of  the ship Nissos Mykonos had on board came to an end as they have all safely been transferred to Karlovasi,  a town on the island of Samos, North Aegean. The ship traveling to Samos, was immobilized between the islands of Ikaria and Samos after a fire broke out in the ship’s funnels.
Earlier the passengers had been transferred to the ship Panagia Theotokos, and the enterprise was coordinated by the Harbor Master of Samos.
Five of the 174 passengers experienced respiratory problems and were administered first aids by two doctors who were on board. They were then transferred with a vessel of the port authority to Vathi from where they were taken to a nearby hospital.
From the very first moments of the fire, next to Nissos Mykonos were three freighters, a passenger liner and a vessel of the port authority.
According to the company’s announcement, the fire was put out by the members of the crew.
The ship of the company Hellenic Seaways departed at 12:00 from Piraeus Port to Syros, Mykonos, Ikaria and Samos with 248 passengers. June 14 was the first route of the ferry for the summer season. The ship was expected to reach Samos by 17:30.
