F6D3C73A6CBFFF126F3380984B273EF9The Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras, will be in Berlin on July 3 to participate in the EU Forum on combating youth unemployment. During his stay, he will hold meetings with Chancellor Angela Merkel and other leaders.
German Federal Minister of Finance, Wolfgang Schäuble, will visit Greece earlier, upon an invitation extended by the Greek Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras.
The information issued by the German side is interpreted as indirect support of the German government to Samaras, at a critical time during which the prime minister is under fire concerning his handling of ERT.
Schäuble announced earlier on June 18 that he had a telephone conversation with the Greek Minister of Finance who suggested he visit Greece.
As Schäuble said during his call with his Greek counterpart, Greece has a “long and steep road of reforms in front,” however, the country is “on the right track of achieving success and the first Greek successes have become visible.”
In addition, the German Minister of Finance reassured Stournaras that, “Europe will continue to support Greece,” while the two ministers agreed to combat unemployment in Greece as a  high priority issue.
At the same time, he mentioned that he will discuss with Stournaras the establishment of  an investment bank to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
